چکیده
Ferromagnetically-filled carbon nanotubes have been recently considered important candidates for application into data recording quantum disk devices. Achievement of high filling rates the ferromagnetic materials is particularly desirable applications. Here we report novel observation continuously filled along capillary with unusual μm-long faceted Fe3C nanowires. Anomalous magnetic features possibly due to strain effects crystal facets are reported. Magnetization measurements revealed stepped hysteresis-loops at 300 K and 2 together an anomalous decrease in coercivity low temperature. The observed shape hysteresis ascribed existence antiferromagnetic transition within or boundary facets. collapse value as temperature decreases characteristic width-enhancement field increasing appear indicate layered phases, strain-rich regions nanowire Zero cooled (ZFC) (FC) curves evidenced presence irreversibilities, indicator a possible spin-glass-like behavior induced by competing interactions. Characterization performed XRD measurements, further slight variation average unit cell parameters, suggesting absence additional unit-cell volume transitions

Hierarchical porous carbon nanostructures doped with nitrogen or other active elements have been demonstrated to be of importance in enhancing the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity. However, their intrinsic limited active sites usually make them exhibit lower ORR activity than commercial Pt/C. In order to solve well this challenging issue, herein we develop a simple method for encapsulat...

Carbon nanotubes (CNT) filled with ferromagnetic metals like iron, cobalt or nickel are new and very interesting nanostructured materials with a number of unique properties. In this paper we give an overview about different chemical vapor deposition (CVD) methods for their synthesis and discuss the influence of selected growth parameters. In addition we evaluate possible growth mechanisms invol...

A two-step magnetically assisted capillary action method is demonstrated as a facile technique to produce hollow carbon nanotubes filled with uniformly dispersed Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs). Template-assisted chemical vapor deposition (CVD) grown CNTs with average diameter 200-300 nm and length 5-6 microm were effectively used as 'nanostraws' to suck in chemically synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles ...
متن کاملBoron-Filled Hybrid Carbon Nanotubes
A unique nanoheterostructure, a boron-filled hybrid carbon nanotube (BHCNT), has been synthesized using a one-step chemical vapor deposition process. The BHCNTs can be considered to be a novel form of boron carbide consisting of boron doped, distorted multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) encapsulating boron nanowires. These MWCNTs were found to be insulating in spite of their graphitic layered...
